High-velocity oxy-fuel spraying of ceramics
Authors: Dr.-Ing. Andreas Wank, Karin Müller-Roden
High-velocity oxy-fuel spraying can be used for the manufacture of oxide-ceramic
coatings which offer advantages over the utilisation of alternative
spraying procedures in relation to
the porosity, the tendency to microcracking
and the oxygen loss. Technically
mature equipment for flexible
spraying of either fine powder or
suspension feedstock has been developed.
In order to be able to exploit
the full potential of HVOF suspension
spraying, it is still necessary
to optimise suspensions in relation to
their properties including their stability
and reproducibility and to develop and establish procedures for the
suitable characterisation of these properties.
