Suspension manufacture and SHVOF-sprayedceramic coatings in the industrial environment

The wish for coatings with ever smoother surfaces, low porosities and high
hardnesses cannot be fulfilled solely with the current standard procedures, e.g.
atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) or high-velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spraying.
Below a grain size of approx. 5 µm, the utilised spraying powders can hardly
be fed in a way suitable for industrial applications. For this reason, work on the
use of suspensions for providing the spraying consumable in the torch has
been carried out for a few years. obz innovation gmbh is one of the first companies
to investigate the suspension spraying process (SHVOF: high-velocity
oxy-fuel with suspension) in the industrial environment of a coating plant and
to refine it towards suitability for series processes.
