Thermally sprayed coatings on ceramic heat shields for the utilisation of regenerative fuels in stationary gas turbines

The development of future generations of stationary gas turbines is pursuing the main objective of increasing the thermal efficiency, with a simultaneous reduction in the CO2 emissions. One possible solution concept consists of converting existing turbine concepts to sustainably produced hydrogen. The operation with hydrogen results in increased loads for conventional thermal heat protection components. Therefore, it is necessary to develop so-called environmental barrier coatings (EBCs) or material concepts which exhibit thermodynamic stability in a hot gas environment.
