Laser-based surface technologies
Authors: Dr.-Ing. Andreas Wank, M. Eng. Alexander Hitzek, Karin Müller-Roden, M. Eng. Christian Schmengler
The laser-based surface technologies which are carried out using fi ller material
can be divided into laser cladding, laser alloying and laser dispersion.
In this respect, high-speed laser cladding constitutes a promising variant of
laser cladding for the cost-favourable cladding of large surfaces. The characteristics
of the processes are compared and areas of application deduced.
The signifi cance and benefi ts of process monitoring and regulation tools are
portrayed.
