Thin silver coatings can be utilised in numerous applications. As a rule, standard
procedures for manufacturing such silver coatings are electroplating processes
which, subject to corresponding prerequisites, supply very good results
with regard to economic and technological aspects. However, there are
application fields and component-specific framework conditions which make
it considerably more difficult or even impossible to apply an electroplated
coating as far as the technology or the economic viability is concerned. Particularly
in these areas, a thin, thermally sprayed silver coating may offer
advantages. obz innovation is one of the first companies to investigate the
suspension spraying process in the industrial environment of a coating plant
and to refine it towards suitability for a series process. The development and
sampling of suspension-sprayed silver and silver/graphite coatings are presented
in this article.
