Lightweight construction is the catch phrase which garners attention in times of increasing endeavours regarding environmental protection. Within this framework, there is often the wish to utilise base materials which would not withstand the planned loads. Thus, it is not surprising that modern and new coating technologies are attracting great interest. The transplantation of thermally sprayed coatings is such a newly adapted procedure. Here, the coating process is integrated into a die casting process and the coating is transplanted from a cavity insert on to the newly created component. In this respect, the proven high moulding accuracy of the procedure reveals the potential for producing structured components without
any remachining.
