Dr.-Ing. Georg Mauer

Georg Mauer was born in Aachen, Germany, in 1960. From 1986 to 1989 he was employed as a scientific assistant at the RWTH Aachen University where he received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 1990. In 1989, he became a Chief Engineer at the Laboratory of Machine Tools (WZL) of the RWTH and took over the management of MVT GmbH in Viersen, Germany, in 1992. Since 2005, he is working as a researcher at Forschungszentrum Jülich, Institute of Energy and Climate Research, where he became head of the Thermal Coatings group in 2008. Since 2013 he is an Associated Editor of the Journal of Thermal Spray Technology. 2014 he took over a lectureship at the TU Dortmund University, Chair of Materials Technology. His research interests are coating technologies (thermal spray, laser cladding, CVD), process diagnostics, barrier coatings for energy technology and hydrogen storage materials.
