Dr. Steven Matthews graduated with an undergraduate degree in the Department of Chemical and Materia...Dr. Steven Matthews graduated with an undergraduate degree in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, The University of Auckland, New Zealand in 1998. He completed his PhD in the same department in 2004, working in the area of high temperature erosion resistant Cr3C2-based coatings deposited by high velocity thermal spray techniques. From 2004-2007 he worked as an R&D Manager for Bekaert Advanced Coatings in Belgium, focusing on the design and manufacture of industrial sputtering targets. He returned to New Zealand in late 2007 to take up an academic position as Materials and Manufacturing lecturer in the School of Engineering and Advanced Technology, Massey University. His research interests include the manufacture and use of carbide based coatings, ceramic coatings and high temperature corrosion resistant coatings deposited by various thermal spray techniques.
