Andrew Vackel

Andrew Vackel is a Materials Science and Engineering Ph.D. candidate within the Center for Thermal Spray Research at SUNY Stony Brook under Prof. Sanjay Sampath. Prior to graduate school, Andrew spent two years as a contracted worker in the thermal spray group at General Electric’s Global Research Center in Niskayuna NY. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University in 2008. His main area of research is in the processing and assessment of H.V.O.F. damage tolerant coatings, particularly the role of coating processing on fatigue life of coated components.
