Brad Beardsley
Brad joined Caterpillar Inc. in 1977 and has worked in the areas of heat treat, gear technology, casting, fatigue, fracture and thermal spray technology. During the past 21 years, he has been responsible for developing applications of thermal spray coatings for Caterpillar applications. Applications include coatings for remanufacturing as well as coatings for chrome plate replacement. He is currently the Technology Leader in the Surface Engineering & Tribology group and is responsible for the technical development of a wide range of surfacing technologies including thin film coatings, surface finish affects, laser claddings and thermal spray coatings. Brad earned his BS and MS degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Iowa State University in 1975 and 1977 and completed his PhD in 2008, also from Iowa State University.
