Clemens Verpoort studied General Mechanical Engineering at the Ruhr University of Bochum until 1977....Clemens Verpoort studied General Mechanical Engineering at the Ruhr University of Bochum until 1977. The graduate engineer obtained his doctor's degree in 1980 in the field of Materials Sciences with a doctoral candidate's scholarship from BBC Brown Boveri, Baden, Switzerland. Until 1983, he worked at the RPI Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, USA as a Feodor Lynen Scholar of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Bonn. Until 1989, Dr. Verpoort was the Head of the Physical Metallurgy Department at ABB Asea Brown Boveri in Baden, Switzerland. There, he worked in the sector of the repair of gas turbine blades by means of thermal coating. Subsequently, he was employed as the Development / Q Management Manager at Bernex Oberflächentechnik / TLS Terolab Servies in Langenfeld until 2000 and as the Materials Laboratory Manager at MAN Turbo, Oberhausen until 2002. He has been working as a Technical Expert in Thermal Coating at Ford Forschungszentrum Aachen GmbH since 2002.
