Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dirk Biermann
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dirk Biermann, born in 1963, studied mechanical engineering at the University of Dortmund and obtained his doctorate in the field of machining. During his eight years in industry, he was head of manufacturing at Dr. SCHRICK GmbH in Remscheid, where he was responsible for the production of combustion engines. Since April 2007, he has headed the Institute for Machining Technology (ISF) at the Technical University of Dortmund. Prof. Biermann is an Associate Member of the International Academy of Production Engineering (CIRP) and a member of the Scientific Society for Production Engineering (WGP).
